Social media is so powerful that it caught netizens’ attention on a homeless man from Bangkok selling
limes every day on the streets so he can raise enough money to buy cat food for the local strays.
This particular homeless man living in Thailand is putting some stray cats before himself each and every day. He sells limes on the streets all in an effort to raise money for cat food. The cats always eat before he does.
The man, name “Loong Dum”, has been caring for the local homeless cats since he first came across one. Every day he sells limes to raise funds to feed the strays. As many parents would tell you when your child is born, you always put them first and to him, they are his family, and they rely on him. Every pet owner knows the devotion and unconditional love they feel for their animals.
The kind man makes sure that all the stray cats get fed every day even though it means that he will not have enough food for himself. He also said that he is fine with skipping meals, but the cat needs to eat. He wants them to know that they always have him to look after him and knowing that the cats are getting their daily meals and care, it gives the man a big smile.
It all began when a young woman, Warunya Wattanasupachoke, spotted the homeless man selling limes with a sign saying, “20 baht per bag, profits will pay for stray cat’s food expenses.”
She decided to purchase a few limes but soon she learned that the man got his lime supply from a kind citizen who gave him the fruit free without charge.
The lady, who posted about this man online, said that she met Loong Dum while crossing an overhead bridge on her way to the train station. She also said that we shouldn’t judge someone based on their appearance and gave Loong Dum as an example although he is homeless and rugged-looking, he has a big heart inside him.
She also describes him as “friendly and polite,” and often apologetic for his lack of skill in choosing fresh produce.
A Facebook page called “Cat Lover Loong Dum” has been made for Thai netizens to follow the man’s daily activities. After his story was posted on Facebook, many Thai people offered to help. Some came to buy limes from him and others dropped off cat food and supplies every day to help him and the local strays.
Some even offered Loong Dum some brand new clothes and a haircut. Right after he got his makeover, Loong Dum went right back out to sell limes. His new fame hasn’t changed him at all, in fact, he knows exactly what is important and isn’t going to stop supporting the stray cats who now depend on him and the love between humans and pets is incredibly one of the purest things on this planet.
